As a university preparatory school, Mentor College offers its students an abundance of guidance and support regarding university destinations and programmes.
Grade 12 students enjoy a week in October dedicated to educating them about expectations during their first year of university.
The University Fair is an opportunity for students and parents to interact directly with university representatives right here at Mentor College! Representatives from over 40 universities across Ontario and Canada attend this annual fair at the Main Campus. Starting at 6:00, senior students and their parents are invited to visit displays and speak with representatives from the university. At 7:00, each university has its own “break out” room and a series of more-detailed info sessions are held once for students who have narrowed down their options.
Alumni from various universities and programs return to Mentor College to share their experiences with our current Grade 12 students. Alumni will begin by taking questions as a group and providing a variety of responses then making themselves available for individual questions from current students.
Professors from universities and colleges will be visiting Mentor College to share the expectations they have of first-year students. Grade 12 students will have the opportunity to ask questions and get answers that will ease their transition into university.
Students have already signed up to attend a university tour of one of York University, Guelph University, The University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. Ambassadors from each university will take questions and guide students around their campus.
